This unit was made for Umicore Indium Products. It was "designed to produce centrifugal castings of iridium oxide"
Although it was used for castings of iridium oxide, looking at the construction of the machine it could be used as a vertical centrifuge to spin anything you would want. Just about everything on this is overkill. The machine has seen better days cosmeticly but it is so well built that is still runs as if it was just installed brand new. Even the belt used to drive it seems like it was recently replaced and the motor looks brand new still. The main chamber door swings very easily. When we got the unit the control box and motor drive were mounted on a separate piece of wood and we re-mounted them back on the side of the unit and replaced the watertight conduit going to the vibration sensor on the machine base.
